The meeting with the musician, painter, photographer and writer White Wolf in 1997 revealed that painting was part of my true nature and encouraged me to concentrate on painting. With this intention, I left the north of England and its Celtic nature that nourished me for ten years, and found a good land and light in the Lot (south west of France). I took a teaching in oil painting at the Toulouse school of Art and learnt to liberate my gesture.
A
drawing on a white background is the ignition for spontaneous movement
and fluidity, using oil painting as watercolour. The forms respond to
each other as well as the colours, conducted by the white that remains
the essential light of the picture.
The paintings look more or less finished with some transparencies that are left or not. This work is evolving along with my own evolution and sometimes beyond;
it becomes a more and more subtle play of colours and facets constantly
renewed.
It is a real joy
to offer a painting to another eye and share a moment of life. It
creates the opportunity for an exchange which may reveal something else
about who we are truly.
